There’s no doubt ‘Blues on Broadbeach’ was popular this year but organisers have been astounded by just HOW popular the music festival was.
For the first time, they were able to track attendance by monitoring mobile-phone signals entering the venue… and estimate a record 125-thousand people visited over four days.
20% of the people wouldn’t have had mobile phones, which across the board is an industry standard. We also made sure that anyone who was in Broadbeach under 30 minutes – we didn’t capture them at all.
Last year.. 96-thousand Blues lovers injected more than 12 million dollars into the local economy.. So this year’s figures are set to top that.
