Former Lismore Mayor Jenny Dowell has received an honorary doctorate from Southern Cross University.
The award recognises Doctor Dowell’s outstanding service to the community, through her volunteer work and activism.
“I just feel quite overwhelmed by it, deeply honoured, I’ll always be a strong advocate for our university, and it was a very proud but humbling moment this morning”
Dr Dowell gave the occasional address to the first of two graduation ceremonies held at the Lismore campus today.
