There’s been overwhelming support for Guyra Shire Council to remain independent.
Around 300 people attended a public meet last night, where the majority said they were against an amalgamation with Armidale-Dumaresq Council.
Residents showed their support for council’s preferred option of operating under the rural council model.
The majority also agreed to accept a 30 per cent rate rise, under the rural council proposal.
