A man has been charged with punching an off-duty police officer in the face at Hamilton, knocking him to the ground.
The 26-year-old officer had stopped his vehicle at traffic lights on Beaumont Street about 3am on Saturday, when a man allegedly sat on his car and bounced up and down.
When the officer got out to speak to him, another man allegedly attacked.
A 24-year-old has been charged.
