POLICE APPEAL FOR HELP FOLLOWING ATTEMPTED CARJACKING IN TAMWORTH

Police are appealing for the public’s help to identify a man, following reports of an attempted carjacking in Tamworth yesterday.

Officers say a 49-year-old woman was sitting inside her vehicle in the driveway of a residence on Ridge Street just after two o’clock in the morning, when a man carrying a knife attempted to open the driver’s side door.

As the woman attempted to reverse out of the driveway, the man ran after her and opened the passenger door. Before he could enter, the woman drove off and alerted Police.

Officers attached to the Oxley Police District are now appealing for the public’s help to locate a man who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.

He’s described as Caucasian, aged in his early 20’s, around 170 centimetres tall with a thin build. At the time, he was wearing a black hoodie with a white motif on the chest, a white face mask and blue denim jeans.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing.

Anyone with information should contact Tamworth Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
