BUSHFIRE SMOKE HAZE OVER MID NORTH COAST

People living in parts of the mid north coast awoke to a blue haze and reduced visibility.
Northerly winds had blown smoke over coastal cities and towns from bush fires burning west of Grafton and Kempsey.
The smoke was so thick, authorities were swamped with calls from concerned residents.
Rural Fire Service Inspector Michael Brougham said, “some of it would be back-burning and the agencies and rural fire service are working on those fires – they’re all under advice and are being controlled.”
By early afternoon much of the smoke had disappeared with the arrival of an onshore breeze.
Viewers can check the Rural Fire Service website for the exact whereabouts of the fires.
