The Brisbane Water National Park has grown an extra 6000 square metres, with the acquisition of land at Kariong.
The new addition follows a community campaign to protect Aboriginal sites around the area as well as the habitats of threatened native species.
The extension is just one of many planned for the park, as the state government looks to expand the estate.
