HEAVILY ARMED POLICE RAID HUNTER VALLEY HOMES

There were dramatic scenes in the Hunter Valley this morning, with officers raiding a home at Gillieston Heights.

Heavily armed police entered the property on the corner of Thomas and Cartwright Streets at about 8am.

They were supported by a police helicopter, a riot van, and the dog unit.

Another raid was simultaneously carried out in Rutherford.

Police will be providing more details on the operation later this afternoon.
