Two elderly residents were forced to be evacuated from their Taree home this morning, following reports a potentially explosive device may be in the house.
Emergency services were called to Burri Street at around 10 o’clock,
“The fire brigade attended and we secured the premises and placed an exclusion zone around the area and at this stage we have got the area to be safe and the residents have returned to their home, Inspector Christine George from Manning-Great Lakes Police said.
The bomb squad will travel to Taree in the coming days to carry out further investigations.
