MAN CHARGED OVER ATTEMPTED ROBBERIES

A teenager will face court today after allegedly trying to rob four stores in Lake Macquarie yesterday.
It was just before 8pm when the 18-year-old man entered an Edgeworth pizza shop and allegedly demanded staff open the register.
When they refused, the man left and walked in to a second store at a nearby shopping centre, where he allegedly demanded the same from staff.
He tried to take a charity can on the counter, but ran from the store empty-handed.
The man then entered a chicken store on Main Road, allegedly demanding money again, before walking into a nearby service station demanding cigarettes.
He was arrested by police when they noticed him inside, and later charged at Toronto Police Station.
He’ll appear at Toronto Local Court today.
