Police are investigating, after a man was injured at Newcastle Police Station overnight.
Police say the 45-year-old entered the station and was speaking to police just after 6pm, then began injuring himself with a sharp object.
He was tasered by officers and restrained, before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for surgery.
He’s now in a stable condition.
