Byron Shire Council has decided to kick its roadside rubbish pickup to the kerb in favour of an annual landfill drop off.
The decision was made at last week’s council meeting in response to illegal dumping, safety and amenity concerns and rising cleanup costs.
The new service will begin in July and allow residents to drop off up to 150 kilograms of unwanted material to the Myocum Landfill once a year for free.
