It’s out with the trucks and in with a new riverside park in Woodburn.
The new bypass opening next year will redirect traffic out of the area, but councillors are hoping this upgrade will attract a different type of crowd.
“I think we’ll see a transformation, as we’ve seen in other places that have been bypassed. All the fast food stuff, there might be not as many of those, but other businesses will come in for people and families who are not spending 10 minutes here, but are spending 3 hours.”
The upgrade includes a new information centre and function room as well as an adventure playground with barbecue and picnic areas.
