CALLS FOR NEW CLIMATE POLICIES AHEAD OF THE FEDERAL ELECTION

There was a lot of noise outside Kevin Hogan’s office today, as protestors from Gasfield Free Northern Rivers called out what they say are 22 “coalition failures on climate policy”.

“Kevin Hogan has said he often feels we are picking on him but that’s because he’s in government and his government is not taking action on climate change.”

Mr Hogan says he was unable to meet with the action group because he was manning the Grafton early voting centre, but defended the government’s record.

“What they wouldn’t of flagged is our successes, we’ve more than doubled the sources of energy we get in renewables since we’ve been in government so that’s been a great achievement.”

“The other thing we said we would do, we would cut emissions and meet what we call Kyoto targets by 2020 and we are in fact going to exceed them.”
