Newcastle has paused to remember Australia’s contribution to the Battle of Britain, 77 years on.
A special Hornet flypast saluted those who fought in the deadly aerial campaign, including Newcastle pilot John Dallas Crossman.
“The Battle of Britain was a major turning point in the history of WW2 and it was when the forces of Nazi Germany had their ambitions to invade Great Britain stopped in their tracks,” James Mackay from the Newcastle RAAF Association said.
