WorkCover is investigating the findings of a study that recently revealed higher cancer rates
among workers at Port Waratah Coal Services.
The report, completed by the University of Newcastle, claims staff at the Kooragang Island site are up to two or three times more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than the average national population.
Health Minister Jillian Skinner has also ordered the chief medical officer to review the findings.
