An alert has been issued after high levels of blue-green algae were detected at Copeton Dam.
Water New South Wales is warning the public to avoid coming into contact with the dam’s water.
People and pets are asked to avoid the area and farmers living nearby must check their water supply before allowing livestock to drink.
Town water remains safe to drink.
