Workers were taken to hospital on Monday morning after a chemical leak in the Newcastle suburb of Mayfield West.
The fumes – in an industrial complex on Woodstock Street – caused a number of people to fall ill.
“We’ve assessed a total of 13 patients with ranging symptoms from headaches, nausea, vomiting. Those patients have been transported to John Hunter and the Mater Calvary hospitals in a stable condition.”
There’s still no word on what the chemical was – or what caused the leak.
