A permanent solution to Maclean’s bat problem is one step closer with Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker introducing a private members bill into the senate.
If passed, the bill would effectively end the bureaucratic merry-go-round which has prevented a licence being approved to remove the flying foxes from around Maclean High School.
The bat colony has been a continual nuisance to residents and the school community, with bat faeces contaminating school facilities.
A time-frame for the debate should be set in the coming weeks.
