A car stolen from the Northern Beaches in Sydney was found engulfed in flames just north of Taree on the Pacific Highway this afternoon.
The late model Ford Mondeo was completely burnt out with a tow truck worker left to pick up the pieces.
Police believe the culprit set the vehicle alight before crossing the highway and fleeing north.
The incident caused minor traffic delays south-bound for approximately half an hour.
