Inverell Shire’s request for a special rate variation has been approved by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.
Rates will increase by a total of 22.2 per cent over three years, which will generate more than $3-million in revenue.
IPART estimates the average residential rate will increase by between 26 and $58 each financial year.
Council will use the extra funds to improve roads and infrastructure around the electorate.
