1200 SIGN ON TO WALK FOR THE CHOPPER
This weekend around 1200 people are expected to lace up their runners and take part in a serious Sunday stroll.
The region’s rescue helicopter is holding its second Ballina to Byron charity walk – a 37 kilometre slog to raise money for the service.
“It’s well over $5000 each mission and in terms of the number of missions, last year we did 366 which is basically a mission a day.”
While most will walk, others have opted to run the distance to help the service meet its $80,000 target.
“We are doing staggered starts. There are three levels, people who want to walk through to Lennox which is a big walk in itself, through to the 37km walk to Byron Bay.”
