A comeback story, two years ago, Novocastrian Graeme ‘Wombat’ Kine suffered a stroke while playing softball at the Pan Pacific Games.
After rehabilitation to regain his speech and ability to walk, on Friday the 66-year-old was back on the Gold Coast to throw the first pitch at this year’s event.
Wombat is competing in the slightly less-strenuous bowls competition this time around, but says it won’t stop him from playing hard, then partying hard.
