ALSTONVILLE BYPASS FINALLY OPENS

It’s taken forty years but the Alstonville Bypass has today officially opened.
The roadway is expected to take 50-percent of traffic off local roads and significantly cut travel time between Lismore and Ballina.
The opening has been welcomed by many Alstonville residents who say the bypass will relieve congestion.
“They’ve waited a long time for this and today was the day that everybody celebrated.”
The $90-million project is part of the Pacific Highway upgrade which is expected to be finalised by 2016.
