Motorists on the Pacific Highway near Newcastle were held up by more than just holiday traffic this afternoon.
A small grassfire burning next to the highway at Ferodale just north of Raymond Terrace bringing traffic to a crawl.
One southbound lane was closed for around an hour, but has since reopened.
