Newcastle has moved to second on the Australian Ice Hockey League ladder following two wins over the weekend.
Facing the Melbourne Ice on Saturday, the two sides went blow for blow in the first and second periods, to be tied at three-all.
But Newcastle produced a stunning effort in the final period to win 8-4, with imports Luke Moffatt and Geordie Wudrick leading the way.
The North Stars then went on to beat the Ice Dogs 5-2 last night.
