WOMAN CHARGED OVER STABBING AT BYRON BAY SCHOOL
A 31-year-old woman has been charged over the stabbing of a teacher at Byron Bay Public School.
The woman was arrested at a home on Beach Side Drive at Suffolk Park, and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, along with entering inclosed lands without lawful excuse.
Police will allege the 31-year-old was speaking with a male teacher at around 7 o’clock on Tuesday morning, when she attacked him with what’s believed to be a pair of scissors.
The 28-year-old teacher suffered non life threatening injuries, including cuts to his face and arm.
He’s been taken to Tweed Hospital for surgery, while the woman will face court tomorrow.
The school was placed into lockdown for several hours, before classes resumed at around 11 o’clock.
