ANTI-FRACKING GROUPS RALLY IN TAREE

Mid north coast action groups have welcomed a parliamentary inquiry into the coal seam gas industry and the process of extracting the gas known as fracking.

News of the upper house probe was greeted with cheers by more than 300 people who attended a public forum in Taree today.

  1. Yes the inquiry is good news but we should look long and hard at the personnel on this committee. The Chair is from the Shooters Party, not known for their environmental sensitivities (they want the right to shoot in National Parks).Another committee member is Peter Primrose, from the ALP. He lives in the southern coalfield region south west of Sydney, where three rivers and a number of creeks have been cracked, drained and/or contaminated by mining operations in recent years. We in Rivers SOS sent many invitations and requests to him since 2004 but have never received a reply, not even a courteous acknowledgement. Any info about the other members would be interesting and probably depressing …
