A group of commercial divers recovering a channel marker from Newcastle Harbour had a close encounter with what they believe was a great white shark this morning.
It was enough to keep anyone out of the water.
“I had the option to bail out, so I thought I’m not really interested in being shark bait today.”
“My storage was full, so I was deleting a bunch of videos off it and caught it at the last minute.”
Both Nobbys and Stockton beach were closed for the morning, following the sighting.

That’s a sunfish…….not a great white…research reaserch research…stops hysteria..
Wow these divers need to stay out of the water if they cant recognise a giant sunfish…
