Inverell has been named as Australia’s first official White Ribbon Community.
It follows more than 18-months of work by residents and council – working with government agencies and outreach centres to stamp out domestic violence.
In 20-16, Inverell was ranked one of the top ten regional towns in the state for domestic violence…
But Mayor Paul Harmon says rates have dropped in recent times, as a result of key education programs and a ‘whole-community’ approach to the issue.
