INVESTIGATION CONCLUDES INTO 2015 CHOPPER CRASH

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has released its findings into a fatal 2015 helicopter crash in the Watagans National Park, west of Lake Macquarie.

Findings into the November 7 crash, which claimed the lives of three people, found low visibility led to a collision with mountainous terrain in the area.

It also found that a lack of flight information and emergency beacons were major factors in the search and rescue operation being delayed.

The helicopter was returning to Sydney from the Upper Hunter when the incident occurred.
