Cessnock City Council is on the hunt for the vandal responsible for a very odd attack.
Three recently planted Crepe Myrtle trees have been mown down by a vehicle near Jeffrey Park.
The trees were planted as part of a beautification project in the town of Kearsley.
Extra security measures, worth more than a thousand dollars will now be implemented.
