Lismore is a step closer to becoming the football talent hub of Australia with earthworks starting on the $15-million Asia Pacific Football Institute at Southern Cross University.
Once complete the facility will boast an amenities block and six football fields, with two being of the highest rating and able to host feature games.
“I would certainly think you would see the standard of football improve on the technical way in the next 10 years, so maybe not the next world cup but the one after that we’ll be able to turn out some fantastic players”
The development application for stage two of the project will go into council this week.
