A man pulled unconscious from the surf at a Newcastle beach earlier this week has died in hospital.
Lifeguards pulled the 67-year-old from the water at Dixon Park Beach at around 10:30am on Thursday, after he was seen floating face down.
Attempts were made to resuscitate the man before paramedics transported him to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition, but he passed away overnight.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
