POLICEMAN PINNED BETWEEN VEHICLES DURING RANDOM BREATH TEST

A police officer conducting a random breath test has been hit by another vehicle near Port Stephens.

The 40-year-old officer had stopped an orange Holden Commodore on Nelson Bay Road at Anna Bay just before midday today, and was approaching the vehicle when a white Renault van and a white Toyota Hilux collided in the adjacent lane.

The van, believed to be travelling at approximately 80kph, has swerved to the left and struck the officer, leaving him pinned between the Holden and the Renault.

The policeman was taken to John Hunter Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The 59-year-old male driver of the white Renault van was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor grazes and abrasions.
