M1 EXPECTED TO BE GRIDLOCK TOMORROW

With only five sleeps until Christmas, officials are warning travellers to expect significant delays on the M1.

Due to the 12 kilometres of roadworks between Tuggerah and Doyalson, traffic could be banked up for hours at a time.

The speed limit will remain at 80 kilometres per hour, despite work being put on hold until the new year.

“My message to people would be you know don’t travel in the peak times, leave a little bit earlier, leave a bit later but certainly give yourself more time.”

More than 70,000 motorists travel on the Tuggerah to Doyalson stretch every day.

Holiday traffic is expected to peak tomorrow and Friday.
