14 people have been arrested, following a police operation targeting shoplifting at Lake Macquarie.
The operation took place at Charlestown shopping precinct on Thursday.
Eight people were charged with a range of offences, including larceny and goods in custody.
Criminal infringement notices were issued to a further four people, while two youths will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
Police are reminding shoppers to take precautions to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of theft.
