Four men are on the run after a violent robbery at Wallsend.
Police say a 25-year-old male was attacked just before 10pm on the corner Metcalfe and Cowper streets.
He was hit in the face before the gang stole his wallet, watch, phone and shoes.
The victim managed to make his way to a nearby restaurant and call for help.
Police are investigating.
