NEW $25 MILLION LISMORE SEWAGE PLANT UNDERWAY

Construction has begun on the new $25 million South Lismore Sewage Treatment Plant.
The deputy mayor turned the first sod on the site today, marking the start of the 14-month project.
“I’ve been in council for eight years and this is the biggest project we’ve started, 25 million dollars”
The redevelopment will see the 80-year-old plant transformed into a more modern, environmentally-friendly asset, with almost double the capacity.
“Economically we’ve got a massive solar farm, we’ve got the largest solar farm in the Northern Rivers, and that will provide about 60 per cent of the power for the plant”
The upgrade will cater for population growth in the region.
