Mariners midfielder Michael McGlinchey is set to join former head coach Graham Arnold in Japan.
It’s understood the New Zealand international is likely to make the move in the January transfer window to J league club Vegalta Sendai.
That means it could open up a space for former Mariner Berni Ibini to make a return to the club.
As yet no deal has been signed.
