A surfer has been bitten on the foot by a shark at Port Stephens this morning.
Police say the 31-year-old was surfing at Birubi Beach in Anna Bay at around 9:30am when the attack happened.
He suffered minor puncture wounds to his foot and was able to swim to shore.
Paramedics treated him at the scene, before taking him to John Hunter Hospital as a precaution.
Birubi Beach will be closed until further notice.
