SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING ISSUED

Large hailstones and damaging winds are expected to hit parts of the Mid North Coast and Hunter Valley this afternoon or this evening.
A severe thunderstorm warning has also been issued for parts of Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes and Northern Tablelands Districts.
The Bureau of Meteorology says a low pressure system is tracking eastwards across New South Wales triggering thunderstorm activity.
It will likely produce large hailstones and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours, the state emergency service advises people to take care.

LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND GUSTS LIKELY IN THE LOWER HUNTER.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:35 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Congewai in the Watagan Mountains. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast. They are forecast to affect Belmont, Swansea, Nords Wharf and Lake Macquarie by 4:05 pm and Charlestown, waters off Swansea, Redhead and Warners Bay by 4:35 pm.
Large hailstones and damaging winds are likely.
