MAN DENIED BAIL OVER SHELTER ASSAULT AND ROBBERY

A Ballina man has been denied bail by Lismore Local Court after an alleged assault and robbery at a men’s shelter in Cherry Street yesterday morning.

Police allege that the 30-year-old punched a fellow resident in the face before attacking the him with a fishing knife and stealing cash from his wallet.

The 35 year old victim received cuts to his forearms and was treated by ambulance officers at the scene.

The accused has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery armed with a weapon, and causing actual bodily harm and will reappear in Lismore local court on the of 22nd of November.
