The drug that caused a mass overdose in Newcastle last weekend, has been found to be the anxiety medication commonly known as Xanax.
A dozen people were hospitalised between last Friday and Monday after consuming the distinctive blue pill, disguised as ecstasy.
Hunter New England Health says several more people have been hospitalised since Tuesday.
