RALLY FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS

Novocastrians will join thousands across Australia tonight in rallies to support asylum seekers who will be sent back to detention camps and Manus Island and Nauru.
The Stand For Sanctuary rally will be held at Hamilton Wesley Uniting Church in Hamilton. It follows last week’s High Court ruling that will result in 276 people, 37 of them babies, being sent back.
The church in Hamilton, along with many others, has declared itself a sanctuary for refugees.
“Australians have been shocked and saddened by the extent of abuse of children and vulnerable people within institutions, much of it within church institutions. It is time for churches to become places of sanctuary to protect people who face the real threat of abuse at the hands of our border protection policy”, said Rev Neil Smith.
The rally starts at 6pm.
Why would Christian churches welcome the import of competing mosques, for the shrinking god-shop market?
They have a common enemy, rational skepticism. Also an influx of Muslim voters would guarantee ongoing high-taxing high-spending left-wing governments who provide most of the churches income in subsidies for schools, hospitals and social services. Income from money in the plate is insignificant
