In the Women’s Rugby Union State championships in Tamworth and Newcastle was on the front foot early against Illawarra, bustling over for the first try of the game.
Illawarra hit back with a speedy run down the sideline.
But it was Newcastle which sealed the win with some nice footwork in the second half, finishing 17-12 winners.
