GOVERNMENT’S FLIP ON HAIRDRESSERS ACT

The Baird Government has back-flipped on changes to the Hairdressers Act, following an onslaught of opposition.
The government had proposed removing legislation which required a hairdresser to have mandatory qualifications, but has since decided against it.
Regulation Minister Victor Dominello says the government has listened to the concerns of the industry.
It follows a petition with more than 20,000 signatures, calling for the act to be kept in place.
