Following his AFL debut in round 23 last season, Gunnedah product Sam Naismith is close to earning a second appearance for the Sydney Swans.
The ruckman trained throughout the pre season on the rookie list, but has recently been added to the senior squad following a long-term injury to a team mate.
The 22 year old has also been named as an emergency replacement for the season opener, in case the Swans lose a player in the 24 hours before kick off.
Sydney kicks off 2015 at home against Essendon tomorrow afternoon.
