A memorial in honour of a man who dedicated countless hours to Sawtell, Mick Stanley, was unveiled in the town this morning.
Mr Stanley’s wife Thelma, along with her three daughters, did the honours at a ceremony at an area known as ‘Mick’s Retreat’.
Mr Stanley, who passed away last year, was well known as a tireless worker for the community of Sawtell.
“it means a lot, Pa was a very community minded man and everyone here knows the stuff that he did, he did it for the accolades he only ever did it because he wanted the town to be a better place.”
Around 40 friends and family of Mick attended this morning’s event at Sawtell.
