Despite speculation the ground could be closed for the rest of winter, Newcastle Council says Merewether’s Townson Oval WILL be right to host Saturday’s NHRU clash between the Greens and The Waratahs.
Only wet weather over the next few days would change that, with a final inspection to be held on Friday.
Townson sustained plenty of damage on June 18, with five back-to-back rugby league games played in torrential rain.
The council will also assess when clubs can return to training at the ground.
